Alan Titchmarsh meets Helen Taylor!

Further to our recent appointment to redesign the visitor entrance and central area of the garden at RHS Harlow Carr (see Blog dated 5th June), we were delighted to be invited by Curator Paul Cook to the official opening of the Harlow Carr Flower Show on the 21st of June by none other than Alan Titchmarsh!

This years show was a celebration of both Harlow Carr’s and Alan’s 70th year. After Alan’s opening words and Q & A session it was time for photographs and as Helen was pushed forward to have a photo taken with the great man, he asked, “Who is this random person?” To which Helen replied, “I’m not a random person - I’m a garden designer from Ilkley!”

However, it wasn’t all mingling with celebrities, we were also invited to design and decorate a floral display on a ‘SevenTea’, tea or cake theme to go on display during the show (21 – 23 June 2019). Other guests, staff, and school & community groups were also invited to contribute. Inspired by Betty’s beautiful boxes of colourful almond macaroons, we made a box of ‘Floral Macaroons’, using different coloured chrysanthemum flower heads.
