Danish Design in Aarhus

We had a lovely holiday in Denmark this summer. We were mostly on the rural west coast of Jutland, but had a trip to Aarhus, Denmark’s second city, on the east coast.

We were really impressed by the well-designed streets and open spaces in this very ‘liveable’ city, such as the decked areas in the city centre where people can relax and enjoy the flow of the river in the shade of native Willow trees.

We couldn’t quite manage to avoid visiting a garden but this was a stunning roof garden on the top of Salling department store which gave tremendous views into the street and across the city.

The highlight, however, was another rooftop, ‘Aros’, the city’s main art museum has a 360 degree rooftop walkway offering views of the city through it’s glass panels in all the colours of the rainbow!
