View of new parterre from the house: low box hedges, handmade brick paths and lawn with a central ring of variegated hollies semi-enclosing the central statue.
Classical Parterre, Ilkley
The clients wanted to realise their dream of a traditional formal garden. As a first phase they had the garden levelled. The selected design for the parterre included a tea house as the main focal point at the end of the garden with a simple, geometric pattern of lawn, box hedges and brick paths.
The parterre is enclosed by yew hedging and new planting includes a double perennial border, rose border, shady woodland borders and a fernery in the grotto area.
