Formal box and rose parterre, Burley in Wharfedale
The client approached us to plant the formal box parterre. He liked the idea of using a vibrant orange. We proposed using two varieties of David Austin roses underplanted with purple blue perennials for a strong colour contrast.
In the central beds we planted Rosa Lady of Shallot, a tall rose, orange-red underplanted with Geranium Kashmir Blue.Rosa Lady of Shallot
In the outer beds we used a newer variety of rose, Rosa Roald Dahl which is a more compact form and has a mid-apricot colour. This was Underplanted with Nepeta Walker’s Low.
